Fifty per cent of a million Zoom accounts for sale on dark web
More than 500, 000 stolen passwords and account details for the video conferencing app Zoom have already been discovered on the dark web.
Cyber-criminals are available the credentials for a portion of a cent each on hacker forums on the dark web – an invisible area of the web that will require specialist software to access.
Researchers at online security firm Cyble first discovered the trove of data, which include the email addresses and associated passwords of around 530, 000 Zoom users.
It is thought that the account details were gathered from third-party data breaches rather than a hack on Zoom directly. Using a technique called credential stuffing, hackers have the ability to link login details which are useful for multiple online account in order to compromise another.
